Abstrakt: The article discusses a study conducted by ophthalmologist Heinrich W. Rose and biophysicist Konrad Buettner at the Air Force School of Aviation Medicine in the U.S. on the effect of atomic bombing on the eyes. Citing a basic optical principle, the researchers claimed that the brightness caused by the blast does not diminish in terms of distance, thus, focusing light on the retina for a long time. This could result in temporary, as well as permanent blindness, according to the study.
