The article reports on teaching grants received by two colleges of osteopathy in March 1951, under the U.S. Public Health Service program of aid to professional schools. It notes the problem with emphasis being placed on manipulation, a technique designed to maintain the normal blood circulation and proper nerve function, by osteopaths. According to one osteopath, the so-called treatment plus he gives involves getting rid of the immediate cause of disease by medical methods and restoring the body to mechanical integrity by manipulation. |
