Screening of postpartum depression: comparison between mothers in the neonatal intensive care unit and in the neonatal section.

Abstrakt: The article presents a study which explores the screening of postpartum depression (PPD) between mothers in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and in neonatal section. It defines PPD as a form of clinical depression affecting women after childbirth, and enumerates symptoms of PPD which include moodiness and excessive concern for the newborn infant along with the risk factors of the disease. It concludes that mothers in the NICU present a higher percentage of PPD than in the neonatal section.
