The article discusses the Affirmative action, a long-term policy on social justice for minorities and the underprivileged, which was signed by President John F. Kennedy last March 6, 1961. President Kennedy issues Executive Order (EO) 10925 that aims racial fairness in employment by the federal government. The author explains the course of affirmative action policies under the EO that fight discrimination in the workplace and elevate that goal to a new prominence. He states also the origin, scope, and the structure of the Order and the President's Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity (PCEEO). Moreover, he concludes that the establishment of affirmative action as a permanent federal policy was the most important contribution of EO and the PCEEO. |
