Abstrakt: Background: Active efflux is a common mechanism of resistance to fluoroquinolones in Streptococcus pneumoniae. Two efflux systems have been described so far in this species: PmrA, a member of the major facilitator superfamily; and the two ABC transporters PatA and PatB.
