This article concerns an empirical investigation of the ideological predispositions of city managers and urban planners. Building on recent literature which suggests that a significant degree of value questioning is under way in each field, we seek to uncover the ideological preferences of city planners and managers, the differences between those who hold ideological positions and those who do not, and the differences between managers and planners of differing ideological persuasions. Ideological predisposition is significant for the individual planner's or manager's personal identification as a professional, for the manager's or planner's behavior in a democray, and for the educational process which certifies them.
