The article focuses on the anniversary of the Helsinki agreement signed by 35 heads of government in Helsinki, Finland to give their commitment in promoting better relations among nations. It states that the celebration is being observed in the Soviet Union with full reportage including television programs, newspaper articles, and book publication. It also states that U.S. President Gerald Ford ignored the anniversary due of the justification of the initial hesitations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) which says that the Communists gains in Southern Europe are partly attributable to the post-Helsinki mood. Furthermore, it says that the Helsinki agreement has allegedly caused the increase in the violation of human rights in Moscow Russia. |
