Abstrakt: | The article discusses whether sufficient intangible benefits are realized by institutions who subsidize athletics programs competing in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) that advance institutional aspirations to justify athletics investment. It poses the question of how universities can use athletics to promote broader institutional interests including academics. It cites the Eastern Michigan University that have subsidized its entire 20 million U.S. dollars athletics budget in the hope of benefiting from the advantages related to athletics prominence. |
