An opener-picker for a 50-gram spinning test was built by adaptation of a commercially available half-scale waste machine. The new machine eliminates hand formation of laps previously required for the spinning test and increases homogenization of the sample. Length array measuiements showed that fiber breakage in the machine is held to an acceptable level as determined by the spinning test. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
