When I awoke, I could see a large stream of blood flowing down the field of vision in my right eye. I immediately knew what it was. I had had many small hemorrhages before, but this time my fear was heightened. Although my vision was ini tially clear, in two hours there was total blurriness in that eye. When I tried to read the large "E" on the first line of the vision chart at the retinal clinic, I couldn't see it. My vision in the eye had gone from 20/20 to "nothing." I distinctly remember the words of the ophthalmologist ... "Now you can tell your patients what it is like to have a major retinal hemorrhage!" [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
