Abstrakt: The article discusses a study that looks at the role of Medial Septal/Diagonal Band (MS/DB) GABAergic neurons in hippocampal theta rhythm amplitude modulation. The study used antibody Gamma amino butyric acid Transporter 1 (GAT-1) conjugated to saporin (SAP, 3μL at 325ng/μL) to inject in the MS/DB of adults Sprague Dawley rats to destroy GABAergic neurons. The results reveal that observed reduction of theta rhythm is associated with 75 percent loss of MS/DB GABAergic neurons.
