The article focuses on the development of a hypothetical learning progression (HLP) for a better understanding of the nature of matter. The study was prompted by the prediction that new information and technologies resulting from nanoscale science and engineering (NSE) research will have extensive societal implications including health care, agriculture and food. The HLP is said to help grade 7-14 students develop models of atomic structure and its relationship to NSE. |
