The author discusses the results of the exercise training trial for Chagas cardiomyopathy which is a neglected endemic disease in underdeveloped countries. He stresses that the clinical manifestations of Chagas disease includes heart failure, arrhythmias, sudden death, and embolism. An overview of the etiology of Chagas cardiomyopathy is offered. The author reports on various contraindications of the disease including exercise training programmes and cardiac rehabilitation. |
