The article describes a case of misindentification of Mycobacterium (M.) kumamotonense as M. tuberculosis acquired from a cervical lymph node of a 30-year-old man in Madrid, Spain. The biopsy specimen obtained from the patient showed necrotizing granulomatous lymphadenopathy. The clinical isolate was initially identified as M. tuberculosis complex through the use of the AccuProbe System, but susceptibility testing performed in a reference laboratory five moths later after treatment was started showed that the isolate was M. kumamotonense. |
