Abstrakt: The article offers information on some of the Nearctic-nesting shorebirds that stop on Barbados while on their southbound migration to South America. It cites that American Golden-Plover and Hudsonian Godwit which take their migration up to another notch. They take a great circle route over the western Atlantic to South America. Another is the Lesser Yellowlegs, which has a population of 400,00 and is listed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS 2008) as a Bird of Conservation Concern (BCC). Its arriving parcels would bathe and preen in a tight group and spread out and attempt to claim a feeding territory from their conspecifics.
