Abstrakt: The article discusses a study which investigated the association between case volume and quality of care and hospital costs or length of stay (LOS). An observational study of patients 18 years or older who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting surgery in several U.S. hospitals was conducted by the authors. It was found that 51 percent of hospitals and 78 percent of physicians were lowest-volume providers.
