The article provides information on the impact of global demand for methyl methacrylate (MMA) on the production of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). It describes the effect of the global financial crisis which led to limited consumption of PMMA and MMA due to which the producers reduced their capacities leading to the current outrage of shortages. It states notional spot prices of MMA to be 2000 euros per tonne at Europe and the availability crisis is leading to making denials to the customers. |
