Abstrakt: The article presents an exploration into the history and anthropology of the Vietnamese diaspora in North America. The author presents a definition of the theoretical concept of diaspora, focusing on the shared experience of a dispersed ethic community. Discussion is then offered applying this model to the ethnological history of the Việt Kiều, the Vietnamese Canadian community of Quebec, from 1975 to 2003. Analysis is offered highlighting the differences between imagined and realized social circumstances in communities and evaluating the experience of the Vietnamese in North America.
