The article discusses the application of a realist theory to the environmental dimensions of domestic or civil conflicts. It argues the significant role of the biophysical environment in prolonging the structural conditions that may result in conflict. It explores the common theories about resources and conflict in order to build a model that shows the causes of violent resource conflicts. It also stresses that environmental anarchy can happen in weak states specially when there is no active government that regulates or manages the distribution of natural resources. |
