The article presents information on the art of typography whose aesthetic criteria are said to be similar to the elements considered and used in painting and the graphic arts in general. These elements include scale, variety, composition and shape. It says that between typography and painting, the conveyance of literal information in the former is primary. It suggests the book "Letter and Image" by French graphic designer Massin which explored the history of the letter as image. |
