| Abstrakt: | The article discusses the origins of the National Association of Mining History Organisations (NAMHO) of Great Britain. The author looks at the organization's early aims when it was formed in 1979 and their development from six members to over eighty. The author explains that members are all historians who have an interest in a special geographic area or technical field. Student mining societies of universities and technical colleges are mentioned.
