| Abstrakt: |
This article presents information from a study of water-borne infectious disease among the people of Attapeu province, Laos from 2003 to 2008. The article notes that even though the last cholera epidemic in Attapeu was in the year 1999, the local inhabitants’ awareness of cholera was surprisingly low, as shown by the knowledge survey on diarrheal diseases performed in the province in 2006. The article also notes that there is a persistent threat of malaria and other infectious diseases and that instances of intestinal parasites and ascariasis were minimal. |
