Abstrakt: The article discusses terrorism in Saudi Arabia. The author talks about the rise of Sunni radicalism and explains how religious culture dominates social relationships. Political support for both Sunni Islamists and Shiite rebels is examined. The author addresses a 2009 assassination attempt on the life of Saudi Arabia's deputy interior minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, who is in charge of counterterrorism efforts. The role of militant "jihad" wars against unbelievers is explained. The article also discusses Saudi Arabia's image after the terrorist attacks on the U.S. on September 11, 2001.
