The article discusses the role of health technology assessment (HTA) in biomedical product development. It refers to a process of examining and reporting properties of a medical technology used in healthcare, which resulted from the demand for a better understanding of technological processes. The evaluation targets the process, outcomes from the process and the critical success factors (CSFs). It adds that HTA serves as a gatekeeper for new products as it provides inputs for the decision on the success or failure on each phase. |
