Abstrakt: The alcohol reactivity series in competitive cyclohexene hydroalkoxycarbonylation catalyzed by the Pd(PPh3)2Cl2 complex in the presence of various alcohols was obtained: n-BuOH > n-PrOH > iso-BuOH ≥ CH3OH > C2H5OH > C6H11OH > iso-PrOH > C7H7OH. It was shown that this series correlates well with that of alcohol reactivity in the transesterification reaction. A stronger response of the transesterification rate to alcohol structure is caused by a lower reactivity of esters relative to phosphine acylpalladium complexes responsible for ester formation in the hydroalkoxycarbonylation reaction.
