Fluoroscopy is an X-ray imaging technique which involves the use of photo-electronic components. Digital fluoroscopy refers to their use when coupled to digital image processors. In this paper medical fluoroscopy is briefly reviewed and video-image digitization is described. Image processing requirements and image processors available for digital fluoroscopy are discussed in detail. Specific reference is made to an application of digital fluoroscopy in the imaging or blood vessels This application involves an image subtraction technique which is referred to as digital subtraction angiography (DSA).
