Abstrakt: The article discusses research on an umbilical waist-to-height ratio and trunk fat mass index (DXA) of central adiposity and insulin resistance in children with a family history of metabolic syndrome in Argentina. The study involved 55 obese children referred to the Service of Endocrinology of Humberto Notti Pediatric Hospital from 2005 to 2007 as well as 53 of their siblings. All of the participants have normal birth weight. The insulin resistance risk in children with waist-to-height ratio of more than 0.54 is noted.
