On mathematical approach to circle fitting problem in the analysis of rich detector data.

Abstrakt: The paper describes a couple of methods solving the Cherenkov rings detection and fitting problem connected with the analysis of RICH detector data. First, a procedure of the global search for the rings and of their fitting is presented. It is based on the statistical methods and probabilistic models. Further, a more general problem of detection of point objects in the plane is considered and the statistical moving window solution is proposed. The paper also describes a procedure for the simulation of RICH detector data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
