| Abstrakt: |
The article presents a study on targeting apoptosis in the heart of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. The purpose of the study was to address the issue of cardiomyocyte apoptosis as a contributor in the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy. It also aimed to identify whether the apoptosis would be inhibited by the use of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) fenofibrate or a PPAR rosiglitazone. Results show that apoptosis plays a major role in the pathophysiology of diabetic cardiomyopathy and using agonists can protect against it. |
