| Abstrakt: | A biography of lace knitter Herbert Richard Niebling is presented. He was born in Averlak in Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany on December 20, 1903. His lace patterns were published in a number of publications, and during the 1930s, he developed a set of symbols resembling individual stitches. He married Olga Linda Zehring in July 1935 and was conscripted into the army of Germany during World War II. |
