A 21-month-old boy with respiratory symptoms for one month secondary to idiopathic multichamber intracardiac and pulmonary thrombosis is presented who was successfully treated with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rTPA). The etiology and risk factors of pediatric intracardiac thrombosis are discussed and the literature and all reported cases are reviewed. It is important to consider cardiopulmonary thrombosis as a differential diagnosis of respiratory distress in childhood. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
