Crown gall: the rose killer.

Abstrakt: The article focuses on the plant disease called crown gall, which is a bacterial infection affecting nut trees, stonefruit trees and roses. It says that this kind of disease causes the formation of a walnut-size gall on the root system of roses and can also affect branches and lower stems. According to the author, biological controls like Agrobacterium radiobacter offers roses some sort of protection. Details of how the bacteria Agrobacterium tumefaciens destroys roses and the ineffectiveness of chemical pesticides against the disease are also discussed.
