Abstrakt: The article discusses the short education film "The Fly Pest" from 1909. The film was created to educate a wide audience on the dangers of the common house fly and its ability to transmit typhoid and other intestinal diseases. The author explains how the film helped advertise the educational film as an important public service. The author examines how the film contributed to the Visual Education movement of the early 20th century. How the producers sold the concept "visual education" to prospective consumers is also discussed.
