The article discusses the Tea Party movement in the U.S., its history, ideology, and activities. The U.S. Senate election victory of Republican Scott Brown from Massachusetts is held up as the Tea Party's first major victory. The spirit of the Tea Party is said to align with conservative Republicans. The author notes three so-called strands of thought among Tea Party advocates: the rejection of progressive politics, a belief in conspiracies and nativism, and indignation regarding the economy. |
