The article features Anandaghar, an orphanage in Kolkata, India, which provides schooling and medical services for children who are HIV positive. The orphanage was created by social worker Kallol Ghosh and is supported by private donations and sponsorship. Teachers who work with the children are provided with post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) kits to minimize their chances of infection. Ghosh has cited statistics which show that an estimated 5.7 million people in India have HIV, 15% of whom are children below 15. |
