The article discusses the Color Rendering Index (CRI) as a metric for determining light-emitting diodes (LEDs) suitability for outdoor lighting. The International Commission on Illumination (CIE) suggests looking beyond the CRI to visual acuity when designing outdoor illumination projects. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recommendations include exclusion of white LEDs not solely based on low CRI, on-site evaluation of LED systems, and comparison of CRI with light sources of equal CCT. |
