The article presents a case report of hirsutism in a 20-year-old woman of Indian origin. The patient was presented with an escalating excess growth of dark hair on her face, arms and thighs, and she has a body mass index of 27. Hirsutism is described as the presence of terminal hair in women and girls in a male androgen sensitive pattern. It also affects 5-15% of women of reproductive age. Several factors to consider in diagnosing the disorder are outlined, including reproductive and menstrual history, history of acne and deepening of the voice. |
