The article presents information on African-American explorer Matthew Henson's Arctic adventure. It notes that he led seven trips to the Arctic with explorer Robert Peary between 1891 and 1906. In 1909, Henson reached the North Pole with Peary and Peary became celebrated for the first person to reach the North Pole. The article notes that Henson was later presented with medals recognizing his role in the expedition. |
