Abstrakt: | The author discusses the relationship between theatre audiences and non-professionalized theater practices and the legitimacy of amateur theater audiences. He cites the relationship of Edmonton's Walterdale Theater Associates with its audiences and its commitment to new play productions with seasoned amateurs and paraprofessionals who gained recognition in Edmonton. He comments on the influnce of amateur theatres on theatre audiences. Also cited is the view of French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu on theatre. |
