Abstrakt: Illustrates the phenomenon of place name confusion from 1821 to 1988 in Antarctica, citing examples of differences in the naming of eight places in Hughes Bay, Antarctica. Discusses places bearing the British names Hughes Bay, Cape Herschel (US: Cape Sterneck), Cierva Cove, Cierva Point, Sterneck Island (US: Apéndice Island), Charles Point, Brialmont Cove, and Spring Point and gives their US, Argentine, and Chilean names.
