Abstrakt: This article provides information on how certified public accountants' clients in the U.S. can benefit from government grants available for emerging technologies. An Advanced Technology Program (ATP) is administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), an arm of the Commerce Department. The program assists businesses in developing precompetitive and generic technologies. The maximum award for single applicants is two million dollars. In order to receive an award, an organization must: respond to an ATP proposal request; furnish information outlined in proposer kits available from the NIST; and satisfy certain criteria.
