This section presents tips on sewing from several readers. Claudette Taylor related that she makes at least one sample buttonhole to ensure that the thread and fabric combination she has chosen fit her preference. She added that she makes a zigzag rotary cutter or pinking shears to cut a small rectangle with the buttonhole in the center. On making a scarf, Ann Marie Froehle stated that one must weave yarn, fabric, ribbon, or other fiber through the holes in the mesh and then stitch by hand or machine to secure it. Julie Rhodes shared that one easy-to-use, washable alternative for handbag and hat interfacing is cotton cross-stitch canvas. |
