Designing messages to reduce infant mortality: From talking posters to public service announcements.

Abstrakt: The article offers information on the District of Columbia Healthy Start Project launched by the Department of Health's Office of Maternal and Child Health. The project aims to reduce infant mortality in the District of Columbia and to increase awareness of infant mortality issues in the city. As part of its mass media program, the project coordinators designed a talking poster contest to address health behavior and lifestyle changes. The project also used high school students to design messages for the posters. Other key features of the project are mentioned.
