| Abstrakt: |
The article discusses a nested cohort study that examined the associations between vitamin concentrations, inflammatory markers and severity of illness in the critically ill. Periods in the study to examine changes in vitamin status during stay in the intensive care unit include an admission period and a "later" period. Weak correlations between severity of illness and vitamin B12 concentration were shown in the preliminary study. There was also a biphasic negative association demonstrated for vitamin A. |
