The article discusses the use of sorbents to remove organic and inorganic sulfur-containing compounds from integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) systems for equipment protection. Kinetic and thermodynamic analyses of several different sorbents are reported using simulated gases to determine hydrogen sulfide removal characteristics. It notes the use of GTT Technologies' Factsage software to calculate hydrogen sulfide concentrations in the gas streams. Temperature effects are noted and copper, zinc, and manganese oxides are favorably characterized for removal of hydrogen sulfides at gas temperatures below 650˚ C. |
