Surveys the rich and varied content of the papers of British intellectual Isaiah Berlin (1909-97). As a scholar, he contributed to the history of ideas, philosophy, liberalism, pluralism, and political thought. His life and work were influenced by his three identities: Russian, British, and Jewish. Since he had many notables among his friends and correspondents, his papers provide a rich resource for studying those people as well. In many letters he expressed his deep commitment to Zionism and his opinion on Jewish issues. |
