Background. In animal models, HMG‐CoA reductase inhibitors were able to improve renal function and endothelium‐dependent vascular reactivity. In various experimental renal diseases, including autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), HMG‐CoA reductase inhibitors improved the rate of decline in renal function.
