This paper is an account of the early development of dialysis and highlights what can be achieved when people with enquiring minds and clear objectives, work together as a team and collaborate with those in other disciplines to solve problems. It has dealt with developments in dialysis in Seattle espousing its example of teamwork, enthusiasm and commitment, Scribner's open mindedness and breadth of vision and his unsolicited assistance.
