Abstrakt: The article presents a study which investigates the effect of ultraviolet (UV) radiation in the relative distribution of dermatomyositis (DM) and anti-Mi-2 autoantibodies in the U.S. Participants of the study include 380 patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs) in centers of different locations including Bethesda, Maryland. Results show that UV radiation may regulate the clinical and immunologic expression of autoimmune disease in women.
