The article focuses on the life and works of Professor T. Ramakrishnan, one of the outstanding scientists associated with tuberculosis research worldwide. It mentions that Ramakrishnan is best remembered for his pioneering work on Mycobacterium tuberculosis metabolism, elucidation of the action of anti-tuberculosis drugs as well as the discovery of mycobacteriophages. Moreover, it notes that his laboratory had the distinction of being the cradle of modern molecular biology. |
